Coronavirus – The 2020 Lyon-Charbonnières Rally canceled

The French Tarmac Rally Championship (CFR) is forced to pause. The second event of the 2020 season, scheduled for Lyon-Charbonnières from April 23 to 25, will not take place, as the organizers announced this Saturday, March 21.

The 72nd edition of “Charbo” is canceled, according to the words of the President of ASA Rhône, Gilles Mondésir. “Following the serious events which are affecting the entire population, the Steering Committee of the ASA du Rhône has decided not to organize the 72nd edition of the Rally Lyon-charbonnières-Rhône, which was to be contested from April 23 to 25, 2020.

Despite the numerous investments already made, we believe that the cancellation of this ordeal, although painful for all the volunteers who have been working there for 6 months, is a wise decision.
We hope that our partners can continue to support us so that our association can offer, as has been the case for many years, first-rate motor sporting events. The future of the ASA du Rhône depends on it.

All together, volunteers, officials, competitors, Institutions, partners and sponsors, strongly hope for a return to normal as quickly as possible. We will not fail to keep you informed of the evolution of our situation. »

The campaign, initiated in Le Touquet with a victory for Yoann Bonato (Citroën) will continue at best from May 15 to 17 near Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes).
