Leader after the first two stages contested last night at the wheel of his Fiesta R5, Thomas Chauffray was the victim of mechanical problems with his rear axle. Abandonment was then inevitable.

Back at the top of the timesheet, Jean-Marie Cuoq (C4 WRC) seemed well on his way to regularly widening the gap on his pursuers. This was without counting on a turbo problem which cost him precious seconds. Eight-time winner of the event, Eric Brunson (Polo GTi R5) took the opportunity to take control of the rally. The Norman returned to service as leader with more than 20” ahead of Cuoq.

An eclectic driver equally at ease on the circuit as in rallying, Pierre Ragues (Polo GTi R5) completes the provisional podium. Coming to prepare for the start of the French Championship in Le Touquet with the Clio Rally4, Romain di Fante occupies the head of the two-wheel drive classification.

The drivers still have six stages to compete, including two at night, before reaching the Trouville podium this evening around 22 p.m.
