Stage 2 – The Oreille couple takes the lead in the Tour de Corse historique

Le Tour de Corse Historique demande vélocité mais également une fine connaissance du terrain escarpé. À ce petit jeu, Alain et Sylvie Oreille (Porsche) possèdent des atouts redoutables.

Robert Consani and Mickael Camilli (Porsche), dominant leaders on the evening of the first stage in Porto-Vecchio, attacked the climb towards Bastia on identical bases, setting three scratch times. But the track rider was surprised on SS8, the last of the day! The thirty-year-old lost 50 minutes and fell to 85th place.

Older, some would say more experienced, Alain Oreille (67 years old) took advantage of this error to take control! Always mustachioed, the winner of Group N in Corsica in 1989 with a Renault 5 GT Turbo showed remarkable regularity on sunny roads.

However, he only has a 48'' lead over Olivier Capanaccia and Audrey Nesta (BMW). Another M3, that of Christophe Casanova and Stéphane Delleaux, is 3rd. But the nice surprise of the day comes from François Delecour and Sabrina de Castelli (Porsche).

In difficulty the day before with a recalcitrant accelerator, “Brake Late” went, in the space of 4 specials, from 19th to 4th position! A podium is well within the sights for the winner of the 1993 Tour de Corse.

Thursday, October 8, competitors will have to make their way between Bastia and Calvi, in the mountains.
