Stéphane Lefebvre wins the French Rally Cup Final

Stéphane Lefebvre (C3 Rally2) and Denis Millet (Polo GTI Rally2) held their position as favorites perfectly. The two drivers, who had already battled in the promotion formula Peugeot Sport, engaged in a duel with seconds, even tenths, throughout the final.

Millet opted for hard tires during the last loop while the former Citroën driver in WRC stayed with the medium rubbers. Confident at the wheel of his Polo, Millet managed to get back to 1,7 seconds at the start of the final special. Starting with cold tires due to a start delayed by 20 minutes, Millet was trapped and could not restart while Lefebvre crossed the finish line as the winner. “I'm really disappointed for Denis, he doesn't deserve that,” said Stéphane Lefebvre directly when he learned of Millet's abandonment. He pushed me to my limits, we rode hard. » Special mention to Gilles de Turckheim, Lefebvre's co-driver: a week after his victory at Cardabelles alongside Manu Gascou with a takeover in the standings of the French Terre Co-driver Championship, he won the Final, hats off!

Considered one of the outsiders, Kévin Bochatay (Fabia Rally2) climbed to the second step of the podium after holding off the numerous Rally2s he was ahead of.

More accustomed to the roads of Reunion Island, Maxime Dupuy did not hide his joy at getting on the podium of the Coupe de France Final for his first rally with the C3 Rally2, it is one of the performances of this weekend.

The other blow of this final is undoubtedly the 16th place in the final for Ludovic Jeudy. At the wheel of his legendary 205 GTi, he also won the Group F2000, the 2-wheel drive classification, and becomes one of the references in its category.

While the victory of the R-GT Group with theAlpine A110 Rally held out its arms to him, in addition to a potential podium, Ludovic Godard was betrayed by his gearbox. Thierry Chkondali (A110 Rally) inherited the lead before taking the podium at Châteauroux as Group winner.

François Thiebaut (Subaru Impreza Group N) and Olivier Bau (Lancer Evo 8) dominated their Group and achieved their goal by climbing to the highest step of the podium.

Du côté des GT, Olivier Periolat (BMW 135i Coupé) se livrait un beau duel avec Daniel Fores (Porsche 997 GT3). Ce dernier abandonnait en fin de course et laissait Periolat profiter de la victoire en GT.

The meeting has already been made in the citadel of Arras, host of the next Final, in October 2022.
