Guerlain Chicherit prepares for Terre des Causses

Guerlain Chicherit will have a lot to do this weekend at Rally Land of the Causses. The Frenchman who took eighth place in the 2013 Dakar with an SMG Buggy will face many potential successors to Germain Bonnefis who will have good experience of the discipline including the reigning champion on asphalt Jean-Marie Cuoq (Citroën C4 WRC), Lionel Baud or Paul Chieusse, both on Peugeot 307 WRC. After taking his first steps in gravel rallying in a Citroën Saxo T4, the French driver will be entered in a Mini JCW WRC prepared by the Italian team Grifone.

“It is a car which does not have all the latest developments, which is not a problem for gravel because the last specification was “tailored” for asphalt”, comments Guerlain Chcherit. “If everything goes well and I feel confident with the car, I might do one or two rounds in the World Cup with a car that has all the upgrades. Very clearly, I want to be in front or at least see if I can do it! On the first run, I will have to get my bearings again. The notes that I use in Rally-Raid are very different from those in rallying and I have never driven a WRC in a race, my last car being a Saxo S1600. I haven't driven in a special for a long time, so I'm going to remain realistic and modest on the first rally to see how I stack up, but at the end of the season I hope to be at the front! »
