D3 – Oreille rallies Calvi in the lead, Delecour out of the race at the Historic Tour of Corsica
Slowly but surely, the Oreille couple is building their lead at the head of the Tour de Corse historique. This Thursday, October 8, Alain and Sylvie Oreille led their Porsche 911 prepared by Romain Joffroy's team from Bastia to Calvi with a 1'12" lead over Olivier Capanaccia and Audrey Nesta (BMW).
Behind, the gap is made, with Christophe Casanova and Stéphane Delleaux (BMW) rejected at 2'24”. The match for the top 5 refocuses on Villa-Bonifet (BMW) and the defending champions Foulon-Mattei (Ford).
Spectators positioned in the Corsica Regional Natural Park impatiently awaited the passage of Francois Delecour and Sabrina de Castelli (Porsche). However, “Freine Tard” was caught for speeding at the end of the second stage on Wednesday. His license was immediately stolen by the constabulary ! We won't see the winner of the 1993 edition again this week.
Left in Rally 2, the first leader of this event Robert Consani (Porsche) signed a whopping three scratch times.
Friday, the 14th special between Galeria and the Col de la Croix will not be contested, due to a landslide on the course. Three special stages remain on the program between Calvi and Ajaccio, including a start at Notre Dame de la Serra (7:45 a.m.).
