Kevin Abbring new leader at the Rallye du Var

Kevin Abbring (Hyundai i20 R5) occupies the head of the Rally du Var at the end of the second stage. The Dutchman took advantage of successive errors from Stéphane Lefebvre (DS 3) and David Salanon to find himself in first place with a lead of 16”5 over Yoann Bonato (DS 3 R5).

The day had already started badly for Stéphane Lefebvre with the breakage of a universal joint. The Frenchman retired after leaving the road. David Salonon had regained the lead with a very small lead over Kevin Abbring and made a mistake in the last special stage of the day.

Sylvain Michel (Skoda Fabia R5) finds himself on the provisional podium with more than half a minute ahead of Gilles Panizzi (Peugeot 208 T16 R5).

Pierre Roché (Fabia R5) completes the top five, more than 3 minutes from the head of the race, ahead of Marc Amourette (DS 3 R5) and Florian Bernardi (208 T16 R5) by a minute. He also took the lead in the Michelin Trophy after Frédéric Raynal (Fiesta R5) lost several minutes due to headlight problems.

François Delecour (Ford Escort Cosworth) retired on the last course of the stage following mechanical problems while he was in 12th place.

The final stage of the Rallye du Var will include three special stages for a total of 76km timed.
