Until now confined to French roads,Alpine A110 R-GT will be able to tackle the international level from the weekend of October 2-4. In fact, the Chazel Technologie Course team will send a copy to Rally Fafe Montelongo (Portugal) with Zelindo Melegari behind the wheel.
THEAlpine will compete in the ERC2 category, a class dominated by the Italian driver after the first two rounds of the European Rally Championship. “We are going to Portugal to show the very good level of performance of theAlpine on asphalt », indicate Louis Chazel, co-responsible for the Rally sector for the slate structure.
“We are very satisfied to return to ERC. Our last full season at this level was in 2013 when we were in charge of the official team Renault Sport. The ERC is the ideal championship forAlpine with legendary events and very tough competition. »
Zelindo Melegari chose theAlpine for its qualities on asphalt. Good thing, there's only tarmac left in this shortened 2020 ERC season! "TheAlpine will be much more competitive than the Subaru on this terrain”, confirms the 54-year-old Italian.
To Alpine, it’s a return to basics. The Dieppe firm won the European title in 1970 thanks to Jean-Claude Andruet, then with an A110 1 model.
