The outcome of the Citroën Racing Trophy known at the Rallye du Var

If Yohan Rossel is favorite against Laurent Pellier in the Citroën Racing Trophy, anything is still possible between the two men. In Citroën Racing Trophy Junior, the fight is even more intense, with Loïc Astier and Jérémy Jamet leading on equal points, ahead of another contender, Romain Di Fante.

For the third time this season, the drivers of the Citroën Racing Trophy and the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior will meet at the same event. After Le Touquet then Antibes, it is again on the Côte d'Azur that the DS 3 R3 and DS 3 R1 will meet, but with more uncertain climatic conditions. Renowned for its unpredictability, the Rally du Var is often the scene of twists and turns. The outcome of the two trophies put up by the Chevron brand being decided on the heights of Sainte-Maxime, this event should prove epic.

Rossel or Pellier in Citroën Racing Trophy

In the Citroën Racing Trophy, there are two who can win. Leader and winner of the first four rallies of the season, Yohan Rossel is the logical favorite. The Gardois does not have any choice references in the Var but he went to the end every time, and he will only need to see the finish to win the title. But Laurent Pellier did not say goodbye to his title hopes and, by winning on the land of Cardabelles, he was able to put himself back in the race. However, if he still has a chance of triumphing, he will have to win in Var, while counting on the fact that Yohan Rossel does not score any points. The advantage therefore goes to the first of the two classified but the suspense should be present until the last kilometers.

Jean-René Perry can consolidate his place in the top 3, while aiming for a third consecutive podium in the discipline. After the land of Lozère and the Cardabelles, he will want to demonstrate his qualities on asphalt. Patrick Romano, who is competing in his fourth season in DS 3 R3, is used to finishing the year in the Var and will want to shine at home. This is also the case for Laurent Priolo, often at the start of the event, but who has more limited experience of the DS 3 R3.

The winner of the Citroën Racing Trophy will be offered participation in six rallies of the 3 FIA WRC2017 Championship at the wheel of DS 3 R3-MAX.

A three-way fight in the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior

Undecided since the start of the season, the fight for the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior title will deliver its verdict at the end of the Rallye du Var. Jérémy Jamet and Loïc Astier, winners each twice, lead the general classification with 83 points. The title should therefore be decided between the two men... unless Romain Di Fante overtakes them! In ambush with seven points behind, the Maralpine pilot can do well all the more because he knows this test; in 2014, he won the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior at the wheel of the DS 3 R1. Loïc Astier won there in 2015, while Jérémy Jamet's experiences are more contrasting. And, if only the five best results are retained, the three men already have one round at the end of which they left empty-handed.

Further back in the general classification, Maxime Chagot will be able to aim for big points to finish the season in the final top 5. This will be his third consecutive participation in the event in DS 3 R1 and, each time, he was able to reach the finish. Sébastian Rambaud will ride for the first time in the Var and will aim as well as his fifth place in Morzine.

Tobias Just joins France after winning the German edition of the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior. Having reached the podium five times across the Rhine, with three victories to his name, he also took part in the German round of the WRC, winning in its category aboard the DS 3 R1.

Théo Fortanier, sixth in Lyon last April, makes his return to Citroën Racing Trophy Junior, while Ronald Villy continues a season which sees him progress after each outing. As for Benjamin Curioz, after his sixth place in Morzine for his first in the Trophy, he will return to the wheel of the DS 3 R1 in Sainte-Maxime.

The winner of the Citroën Racing Trophy Junior will benefit from a program of six rallies in the French Rally Championship aboard a DS 3 R3.
