The good deal from Canivenq

The end of the French Rally Championship season promises an exciting three-way battle. Before Rally du Var which will take place from November 27 to 29, three drivers are within eight points and can hope to succeed Dany Snobeck.

Second in the Critérium des Cévennes, Guillaume Canivenq (Peugeot 207 Super 2000) managed to open a slight gap on his direct pursuers Emmanuel Guigou (Renault Clio R3) and Patrick Henry (Peugeot 206 WRC) at the top of the Championship. The latter, despite a mechanical problem, managed to grab third place and remains in the race for the title even if he is now eight points behind.

« I'm happy to be done even if I'm disappointed by our mechanical problems. We changed the turbo hose but it was not better “, explained the native of Belfort. “ I still have the hope of being French Champion at Var but it won't be easy »

Because up front, Guillaume Canivenq managed to contain the driver of the 206 WRC. On a 207 Super 2000, the Aveyron driver did not take any excessive risks and will enter the Rallye du Var at the end of November in a strong position. “ I felt confident from start to finish. I think I had a good rally », he declared upon arrival. “ We had to make no mistakes and go quickly. I focused on my duel with Patrick Henry. Long live the Var! »

A third man can hope to beat his rivals to the wire: Emmanuel Guigou. The driver of the Renault Clio R3 knows that it will not be an easy game but he will try to take advantage of his experience on the roads of Var to at least maintain his position.

« It’s a rally that I have already done eight times. I particularly enjoy this event with fairly wide roads and beautiful trajectories on which I always have fun. We can play for the title at Var but it will be an almost impossible mission. To be champion, it would take a double abandonment of my rivals. [On the other hand], second place remains entirely possible He concluded.

The competitors will therefore meet on the last weekend of November around Saint Maxime to compete for the title. They will also be able to benchmark themselves against six-time World Champion Sébastien Loeb, who will participate in the rally with his wife Séverine.
