This magnificent region of Corsica located on the north-west part of the island of beauty with its many small villages clinging to the mountains and its superb road which connects Calvi to Galeria allows the organizers to put together a superb route each year.

Le rally in Balagne, apart from the passages of the historic Tour de Corse, began in the early 80s with the Calvi-Galeria-Calenzana round unfortunately bereaved during the 82 and 84 editions with the loss of Simon Quilici, co-driver of Pierrot Orsini and the pilot René Zereni who was associated with his friend Toussaint Capocchi who emerged unscathed from the accident.

En 1997, the Team Balanina will get back to work and propose in collaboration with ASA Corsica the first round. This round will obtain these letters of nobility in 2005 with the organization of the French Rally Cup which will allow drivers from France to know the roads of this region and to become attached to them.

Each year more than 50 continental crews travel there, which allows this rally to be by far at the head of participation in the 10 island events.

Last year it was the local crew Kevin Fredenucci associated with Kern Andrea on a Polo R5 who won in modern and the Sampieru Bidokoroff crew associated with Noel Molluso on an Escort in VHC.

Start this evening at 19:20 p.m. on the famous Montegrosso bends for the first night special. Among the favorites we will find Fredenucci who is putting his title back on the line, Capanaccia Santoni, Argenti and even the continental Vivens for the surprise of the weekend. Ludovic Godard will aim for big points in the Michelin Rallye Tour. The bad weather forecast this evening and tomorrow near Notre Dame de la Serra could play an important role if the rain continues.
