The calendar for the 2018 season of the French Championship Rally Earth should only feature six rounds out of the seven planned. The Drôme Automobile Sports Association which organizes the Rallye Terre de Diois has confirmed the cancellation of the event scheduled for the weekend of June 17.
In their press release, the organizers specified that they had been forced to change the dates late “following local priorities on the use of the sites planned for the implementation of the rally”.
Although ASA Drôme tried everything to maintain its appointment, the problems were too numerous to be resolved in time. The organizers were notably blocked by the availability of staff, clashes of dates or even the validity of authorizations concerning the planned routes.
The organizers therefore preferred to cancel the Rallye Terre de Diois rather than end up with an event limited in terms of services or mileage. “Lucidity prohibits crowning the efforts (of elected officials, partners and volunteers) with a predicted failure”, concluded the ASA Drôme.
The French Terrestrial Rally Championship will resume at the Rallye Terre de Langres (Haute-Marne) on the weekend of July 22.
