The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic is hitting motorsport hard and the French Asphalt Rally Championship is unfortunately hit hard.
After the postponement of Rally of Antibes and the cancellations of Lyon-Charbonnières and Rouergue, the future of the Rallye Vosges Grand Est, initially scheduled for June 12 to 14, could potentially involve a postponement, as announced by the organizers.
But in the end it was an outright cancellation which was confirmed yesterday. “A few days ago, we were hoping to meet you for the 2020 edition of the Rallye Vosges Grand Est, with a date of postponement of this round of the French Championship to the dates of July 31 to August 2, says Karine Hot, president of the organizing committee.
Due to new government announcements, including the extension of confinement and the ban on gatherings of more than 100 people until at least mid-July as well as the suspension of hotel and catering activities, and the uncertainties which still weigh on the exit from this health crisis, we are no longer able to consider postponing the event until the heart of summer.
It is therefore truly heartbreaking to announce today the cancellation of the 2020 Vosges Grand Est Rally.”
The Mont-Blanc Rally could therefore signal its resumption at the beginning of September, if deconfinement measures allow it.
