Lyon-Charbonnières: First victory for the Citroën C3 R5 with Bonato

There was no fierce fight for victory in the Rally Lyon-Charbonnières. The opening round of the French Asphalt Rally Championship took place on Saturday evening Yoann Bonato and Benjamin Boulloud of Team CHL Sport Auto, winners of 10 of the 13 special stages of the rally.

Yoann Bonato could have a smile during the protocol ceremony. “I'm really happy because everything worked perfectly this weekend. It was the first outing with the Citroën C3 R5 in the French Championship and it was the first victory, it's really so good! »

The podium is completed by Jeremy Ancian on his Team Minerva Oil Ford Fiesta R5. The 33-year-old driver showed consistency but still finished 48 seconds behind. The fight for the last step of the podium turned to the advantage of Bryan Bouffier (Hyundai i20 R5), lequel a débordé Pierre Roché (Skoda Fabia R5) dans le tout dernier secteur chronométré. “I attacked until the end. We only regained our speed at the end of the race so it’s a shame”, explains the former Monte-Carlo winner.
