Maurin takes victory at Lyon-Charbonnières

Julien Maurin won his duel against Jean-Marie Cuoq to secure his first victory in the French Rally Championship at Lyon-Charbonnières. The driver of the Ford Fiesta WRC fared best in the cold and wet conditions of the second stage of the event and crossed the finish line 26 seconds ahead of the defending champion. Lionel Baud takes the last step of the podium with his Peugeot 307 WRC. Eric Brunson saves a fourth place obtained in the penultimate special. The Subaru Impreza WRC driver lost time this morning following a wiper problem. David Salanon completes the top five in his C4 WRC while Jean-Charles Beaubelique (Focus WRC) takes sixth place ahead of Eric Rousset's 206 WRC.

Ludovic Gal finished eighth, less than eight seconds behind the Peugeot in front of him. But the driver of the Fiesta S2000 still won the Michelin Trophy following the retirement of Gilles Nantet (breakage of the left rear suspension of his Porsche 996 GT3 Cup) and when Patrick Rouillard (Porsche 997 Cup) went off the road. Cédric Robert wins the Citroën Racing Trophy ahead of Kevin Demaerschalk and Mathieu Maurage. Yoann Bonato lets victory in the Opel Adam Cup slip away against Rémi Jouines after suffering a puncture.
