Nikolay Gryazin holds off Loeb at Rallye du Var

Nikolay Gryazin is in the lead at the end of the first stage with a small lead over Sébastien Loeb, who is still engaged in his Hyundai i20 WRC.

Nikolay Gryazin holds off Loeb at Rallye du Var

Nikolay Gryazin stood up to Sébastien Loeb in the first stage of Rally du Var which consisted of 3 special stages contested in the rain. At the wheel of his Skoda Fabia R5, the Russian won two scratch points and is ahead of the Hyundai i20 WRC of the nine-time world champion by more than 2 seconds.

Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 R5) completes the provisional podium without managing to keep up with the leaders, more than 22 seconds behind. Ole Christian Veiby (Hyundai i20 R5) regained 4th position after Mathieu Arzeno (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) suffered wiper problems dropping him beyond the Top 10.

Stéphane Sarrazin (Hyundai i20 R5) regained pace at the end of the day to complete the Top 5 ahead of William Wagner (VW Polo GTI R5). Quentin Gilbert (Skoda Fabia R5) follows in 7th place ahead of Éric Mauffrey (Skoda Fabia R5), Rpahaël Astier (Hyundai i20 R5) and Yohan Rossel (Citroën C3 R5).

 

 

The second stage of the Rallye du Var will be made up of 7 special stages.
