As required by the new FIA standardization of categories in the field of rally, the R2 division will soon be renamed Rally 4.
Enough to offer the opportunity for Peugeot Sport to renew its 208 R2 model, one of the most prominent in the two-wheel drive category with 450 units sold since its launch. The new 208 Rally 4 is thus developed on the basis of the production car, and takes up the aesthetic canons in force on the Lion best-seller.
The car is powered by a 3 liter 1,2-cylinder block with a turbo and 208 hp (marketing obliges). Magneti Marelli electronic management and Sadev gearbox are also part of the overall package of this little powerhouse Lioness, which will receive its approval at the end of the first quarter of 2020.
We won't have to wait long to see the 208 Rally 4 in action, since it is in Spain, at the Madrid Rally this weekend, that the car will be entered under the Peugeot Sport Academy banner, and entrusted to Efren Llarena, winner of the FIA ERC3 2019.
The French scene will also be on the program with a strong presence on display at the Rallye du Var, conclusion of the French Asphalt Rally Championship, also contested this weekend.
The Peugeot 208 Rally 4 can be pre-ordered from next January for €66 excluding tax. The first models will go in priority to participants in the 000 Rally Cup France and Iberia.
