Rally France – Sébastien Loeb widens the gap in Var

Throughout a second stage once again shortened (cancellation of SS7 for safety reasons), the duo Sébastien Loeb ? Julien Maurin fought for the lead of the race at Rally du Var, last round of the French Rally Championship. Starting very strongly this morning, the reigning French Champion and his Ford Fiesta gained more than seven seconds in the first timed sector of the day before seeing the nine-time world champion respond instantly in the following special, recovering exactly the time lost in the 'ES4.

If Maurin took the scratch in SS6 by a tenth of a second, it was Sébastien Loeb who did the right thing in the last sector of the day at Capelude, relegating Maurin to more than fifteen seconds, at the same time doubling his advantage at the end of this second day. David Salanon (Ford Fiesta) remains a solid third but watches the duel for victory from a good distance, 1'38 behind the Loeb duo? Maurin. Patrick Magnou (Peugeot 206 WRC), 4th at almost three minutes and Pierre Roché (Ford Fiesta) 5th at 3'40, complete the top 5.

In the Michelin Trophy, Franck Lions (Peugeot 207 S2000) remains in control of the event, while in Citroën Racing Trophy Cédric Robert remains leader. Cyril Audirac dominates the Peugeot 208 Rally Cup and Jean-René Perry the Opel Adam Cup.
