Rally: FIA solutions to improve safety

The International Automobile Federation presented the minutes of its meeting held this Wednesday, September 9 in Geneva (Switzerland) on the orders of its president Jean Todt. The former Team Principal of the Team Ferrari wanted to react quickly following the tragedies which have devastated the world of rally with the death of Frédéric Comte at the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine (Haute-Savoie) on Friday September 4 and the death of six people in the crowd at the La Coruña Rally in Spain on Sunday September 6.

The FIA has retained three main measures that can be applied quickly.

Remind authorities responsible for organizing rallies of the significant dangers of carrying out events outside of the FIA principles regarding spectator and vehicle safety.

Introduce measures to strengthen the impact of educational programs for spectator safety with the help of national sports federations.

Create a group of FIA experts who can assist national sports federations and rally organizers and assist them in implementing safety recommendations.
