Rally – Maurin opportunist at Terre de Lozère

Julien Maurin (Skoda Fabia R5) could not have hoped for better for his first participation in the Rally Terre de Lozère since he won ahead of Jean-Marie Cuoq (Citroën C4 WRC) yet well on their way to victory. The winner, who scored his second success of the season, took advantage of a puncture from his opponent in the tenth special.

Jean-Marie Cuoq had to settle for second place and ceded the lead of the French Terrestrial Rally Championship to Julien Maurin before the last event of the season with the Rallye Terre des Cardabelles (Aveyron) contested on the weekend of 9 october.

Lionel Baud, victorious last year at the Rallye Terre de Lozère, completed the podium more than two minutes behind Julien Maurin at the wheel of his new DS 3 WRC. Frantz Comoli (DS 3 R5) took fourth place ahead of Arnaud Mordacq (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX) who completes the top five after emerging victorious from the duel which pitted him against Jean-Marc Falco (Lancer Evo IX), the latter having retired due to a mechanical problem in the tenth special. Paul Chieusse (Peugeot 307 WRC) ranks sixth ahead of Yohan Rossel (DS 3 R3).

William Wagner finished eighth in the general classification and won for the second time in the 2 Wheel Drive category after the Rallye Terre de Langres (Haute-Marne) last June while he also won in the 208 Rally Cup.
