Rally – Yohan Rossel separates from CPI Racing

Yohan Rossel arrived in the French Rally Championship with solid ambitions since the former driver of WRC 2 espérait jouer le titre avec une Hyundai i20 R5 préparée par le team CPI Racing – Onyx Racing.

A few days before the start of the season at Rally du Touquet (Pas-de-Calais) contested this week, Yohan Rossel finally had to postpone the start of his program for financial reasons. The sudden news for the former winner of the Critérium des Cévennes since he had already participated in a test session last Tuesday in anticipation of the start of the season.

“Following a call from the team the next day, the discussion on financing the season no longer turned out to be the same, explains Yohan Rossel’s press release. A few attempts at emergency agreements were proposed without unfortunately finding a solution. Negotiations and broken verbal promises no longer boded any confidence for the future... It was agreed not to continue our collaboration with the CPI Racing team. »

The disillusionment is great for Yohan Rossel who finds himself without a steering wheel as the season begins.

“Going from participating with great ambitions to a failed start is not the best for morale, comments the person concerned. But I remain lucid, there is no question of embarking on a French Championship season without being able to fight on equal terms, with a team committed to its cause in the optimal conditions to aim for the title. I am still young and it is not too late to bounce back… We will study the new proposals…”
