Sainte-Baume Rallycircuit – Is the circuit the future of rallying?

Like what happened in the WRC at Ypres or Monza, should we inject a little circuit into rallies? This weekend at the Sainte-Baume Rallycircuit, the competitors faced these two environments. If it leaves purists wary, this concept also has arguments.

Sainte-Baume Rallycircuit – Is the circuit the future of rallying?

The first edition of the Sainte-Baume took place in 1984 and it has only been absent from the calendar once, in 2012. Based in La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône) by the sea, this meeting counted for the 2002 French Asphalt Championship when the authorities created two competitions, one for the Super 1600 and one for… everything else! Hugues Delage, Alexandre Bengué, Jean-Marie Cuoq and even the Northerner Arnaud Mordacq are on the honor roll. La Sainte-Baume has always offered special stages which have caused problems for the most talented. The massif giving the name to rally has magical roads, both in terms of their profile and their environment. So why deprive yourself of a stage in this context, to lock yourself in the very policed site of the Castellet circuit (Var)?

Marriage of convenience ?

I hope not!!! Yesterday I witnessed a pitiful spectacle between straight sections without any interest because they were too fast and chicanes in the purest style of the gymkhana in the village square. With my pilot, we should have registered in VHRS. We absolutely do not regret that a mechanical breakdown prevented us from doing so because asking for a €650 commitment to only have the 100 km of the Ste Baume massif chronos (they are superb!) as an interesting route seems totally interesting to us. excessive. Please give us back the old formula.
