A position to defend for Guigou

After a first victory in Group R during the Rally Lyon-Charbonnières, Emmanuel Guigou and David Marty presented themselves at the start of the Alsace-Vosges Rally with the ambition of doing it again.

At the end of the first morning of racing, Emmanuel Guigou was already placing his Clio Renault Sport R3 at the head of the 2-wheel drive, just behind the WRC and Super 2000 but ahead of the kit-cars. Throughout the event, the Vauclusien progressed in the general classification. Fifth at the dawn of the second day, he continued to attack and reached the final podium.

“This is an exceptional result. We couldn't imagine being at the top of the French Championship after two rallies. A Group R car has never been on a podium, won the BFGoodrich Trophy or placed at the head of the championship! We had a difficult rally, undoubtedly the most difficult of the season. We were both consistent and efficient, ahead of more powerful cars,” congratulated Guigou after the finish. “I hope that this first place in the French Championship will trigger things! We don't have the budget to do all eight rallies, but we will be at the start of the Rallye du Limousin with a new status. We will defend this position, even if we do not play in the same league as the WRC. »
