Vigion: “I lose everything”

In the fight with his teammate and rival Guillaume Canivenq to win once again in the BFGoodrich Trophy, Jean-Sébastien Vigion had taken a slight advantage at the end of the first two loops.

After six special stages, Vigion was 14??6 ahead of Canivenq. Third in the category, Frédéric Comte was already relegated to more than 44 seconds. Only the scarecrow Kris Meeke, registered in the A7S class, was in a position to steal three small points which would not have prevented him from taking the lead in the championship on Saturday evening.

But at the exit from the service park between stages 6 and 7, a water pump problem changed the appearance of this 2009 campaign. If the crew of the Peugeot 207 Super 2000 n°7 managed to repair, he left very late. In order to avoid a penalty at the next regrouping park, Jean-Sébastien Vigion drove at a prohibited speed on a connecting route, in the middle of the usual road traffic.

Caught at 119 km/h – trying to overtake another motorist – in Taninges, Jean-Sébastien Vigion had his license immediately withdrawn? and thus lose any chance of winning the national title: “I've been working for this for six years and everything has stopped. Without this water pump problem, I would never have overtaken at this location. I do not know what to say. »

On the verge of tears, visibly disappointed by this mistake which deprives him of the greatest opportunity of his career, Jean-Sébastien Vigion is KO: “We will go to court on November 30. It's finish. Do I lose everything? All? All? All. »

With Emmanuel Guigou going off the road in SS1, two of the top three in the French Championship will not score points in Morzine. A great opportunity for Guillaume Canivenq and Patrick Henry to take the advantage.
