Adrien Fourmaux will not compete in the Rally of Japan

While after his good performance in Catalonia he could hope to discover the final round of the season, everything suggests that Adrien Fourmaux will not make the trip to the land of the rising sun. For the Frenchman, the future in Rally1 seems hypothetical.

As soon as the entry list of the rally of Japan (November 10-13), the French pilot remained cautious. “ I had also been on the New Zealand one », he recalled. The Puma N°16 had in fact been listed for a long time before M-Sport do not withdraw it, saying that there would be no point in going since the event would not be on the 2023 calendar. What will be the reason this time to explain this absence?

Authors of an intelligent race in Catalonia, Adrien fourmaux and his co-driver Alexandre Coria finished best of the Ford crews in 8the final place. Upon arrival in Salou, the Northerner was reserved about the impact that such a result could have on his future trip to Asia.

« We'll see what the team decides. With Alex, we did what was necessary to bring back an intact car and finishing 1esr Puma. » This ultimately was of no use since Fourmaux's season ended on the Costa Daurada. After being deprived of three of the last four races (Acropolis, New Zealand, Japan), the 27-year-old can wonder about the rest of his career within this entity.

If M-Sport doesn't offer him anything in Rally1 for 2023, he should perhaps try to start again in WRC2 with a Fiesta or with a competing brand, unless he considers retraining for another discipline or he will be obliged to return to medical studies, the prospects of which will perhaps be less uncertain.

“We did what was necessary to bring back an intact car and finish 1st in the Puma. » Well, it's a fact I wouldn't do the 10th of what he does with a steering wheel in his hands, but what does he have to show in Catalonia? Nothing ! he never tried to go after those in front of him! he even ended up touching (miraculously without damage) a slide, the spark from the rim is there to be able to say that within 2 or 3 cm he remained in place! He could perhaps have become a really good pro driver in the WRC unfortunately it is feared that we will not see him in the race anytime soon.
