Al-Attiyah announces his departure for Citroën

Nasser Al-Attiyah reportedly on the verge of leaving M-Sport to go to Citroën Racing. The Qatari confirmed the news to the AFP news agency, specifying that the State of Qatar would become an important financial partner of the experienced manufacturer for 3 seasons. Besides, he would not drive a DS3 WRC private but would have a position as 3rd official driver within the team and would thus evolve directly with Sébastien Loeb and Mikko Hirvonen. The French brand did not want to confirm the Qatari pilot's statements for the moment but admitted that it had met him.

At just 40 years old, Nasser Al-Attiyah has already made a name for himself in the world of rally. Although he won 9 times in the Qatar Championship, he also distinguished himself in 2006 by winning the P-WRC category. But his greatest achievement remains his victory at the Paris-Dakar won this year with Volkswagen, after having already narrowly missed success the previous year by failing 2 minutes behind his teammate. Carlos Sainz.
