The title contenders responded to the shakedown of Rally of Germany contested on the 5,2km course of St Wendeler Land which will serve as the first special this evening.
It is Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) which was responsible for setting the reference time by setting a time of 2'39''7 during its 4th and final pass. With one less passage, Ott Tänak (Toyota) ranked a tenth. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) followed 3 tenths behind the Frenchman.
Dani Sordo (Hyundai) set the 5th fastest time ahead of Kris Meeke (Toyota) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) who was the most diligent with 5 laps. The Finns Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) ahead of Gus Greensmith (M-Sport) who completed the Top 10 ahead of Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) who is competing in his first world rally on a WRC.
Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda) was the fastest WRC 2 driver, ahead of Jan Kopecky (Skoda) by a second. Éric Camilli (Ford) and Stéphane Lefebvre (Volkswagen) were then the closest.
The first SS of the Rally Germany will be contested this evening from 19:08 p.m.
