2017 Volkswagen Polo R Overview

Volkswagen Motorsport was the first manufacturer to reveal a preview of its future Polo R WRC carried out according to the regulations which will come into force from 2017. This sketch shows a three-door model like the current version. The new WRCs will notably have a more aggressive look and will be more powerful.

“The 2017 WRC regulations will include some very spectacular technical innovations. The cars will be much more dynamic while being safer”, commented Jost Capito, the future ex-director of Volkswagen Motorsport.

The WRC cars will notably gain 50 mm in width and will have more imposing bumpers. The intake flange will be widened from 33 to 36 mm and the engine will develop 380 hp. The cars will also lose 25 kg to 1175 kg.
