After Audi, Volkswagen?

According to the British magazine Coach, a meeting is to be held tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1, in Wolfsburg, Germany, at the group's headquarters, to discuss the future of the Volkswagen Motorsport World Cup program. The decision would almost be confirmed, as reported by a source close to the German brand's governing bodies.

Arrived in 2013 with the Polo R WRC et Sébastien Ogier as reinforcement, Volkswagen immediately dominated the discipline by taking over from Citroën Racing. After four world titles for the French driver and four Manufacturers' crowns, the last of which acquired at Wales Rally GB which ended last Sunday, the management board of the VW group could put an abrupt end to the involvement of its flagship brand in rally than that of Audi in Endurance.

As we indicate in AUTO issue 2087hebdo, the track of Rallycross could be the next battlehorse for Wolfsburg, with a potential electric category coming in World RX.

Find this article on the future of Volkswagen Motorsport in issue 2087 of AUTOhebdo, available from 22 p.m. tonight in digital version, and from this Thursday on newsstands.
