Hyundai is back in the game WRC. The Korean team unlocked its victory counter this season during the last rally, in Sardinia, with the success ofOtt Tänak. A doubly successful event since Dani Sordo also finished on the podium, in 3rd place.

Two very good results which reassured the team based in Alzenau, which was in difficulty during the first events. Julien Moncet, deputy director of Hyundai Motorsport, describes " relief " the service in Sardinia. “We know it was a difficult start to the season, we know we were a little late with our car, but we are here now. Certainly we still have work to do and we probably won't be able to do everything before Kenya, but everyone had a competitive car in Sardinia and we know where our place is now. »

Hyundai wants to “take back as many points as possible from Toyota”

Even if all of Hyundai's problems are not yet resolved, the team wants to attack the Safari Rally (June 23-26) with optimism. Julien Moncet is impatient to start the Kenyan meeting. Objective: catch up Toyota in the standings and play for victory once again. “We are aiming for a good result in Kenya, that's what we need to regain maximum points from Toyota. We were all very motivated before, but it's even more so now. Like I said, the start of the season was difficult, but no one gave up, we all stayed motivated and we saw the result [in Italy]. »

Before the 6th round of the season, in Kenya, Hyundai came back to 39 points behind Toyota. Last year, victory stretched out its arms to Thierry Neuville before the Belgian encountered suspension problems. This year, Julien Moncet's team will enter 4 cars with the participation of Neuville, Sordo, Tänak and Solberg.
