Atkinson ready for Finland

Since 2008, the 32-year-old Australian has only completed two rallies (Ireland 2009 and Mexico 2012). In Finland, Atkinson will take the wheel of the Citroën DS3 WRC of Nasser Al-Attiyah within the Qatar World Rally Team, since the Qatari is currently at the London Olympic Games to participate in the skeet event. Atkinson remains on two good results in Finland since he finished in fourth position in 2007 in a 2007 Subaru Imprezia WRC before finishing on the third step of the podium the following year in a 2008 Subaru Imprezia WRC.

« Even though I left the WRC, I remain involved in the world of rally, explains Atkinson. I’m happy to have this opportunity and really excited to race in Finland again. I have already participated in this rally five times and finished on the podium the last time in 2008. I hope to find the rhythm quickly with the DS3, which is currently the best car in the WRC. All four factory riders seem determined to fight for victory, so hopefully I can mix with the leaders. »
