Block: His first points in the WRC

Ken Block is the first American to score points in WRC since John Buffum who scored a point at the Olympus Rally (USA) in 1988. Under threat of Sébastien Ogier, the Gymkhana driver managed to maintain a sufficient lead over the Citroën Junior Team driver to score two precious points on his scoreboard.

At the end of the last day of the Spanish event, Ken Block still had 1?22?? ahead of Sébastien Ogier. “ I knew Ogier was catching up with us ", said the Monster driver. “ We could no longer maintain our pace taken in the second stage. We had no other solution than to push. »

This result is all the more satisfying for the driver of the Ford Focus RS WRC as it was signed on asphalt, a surface where he still has limited experience. More comfortable for the moment on gravel, he will arrive confidently in Great Britain, for the last event of the season.

« Although our pace is starting to improve on the asphalt, we have not yet done many kilometers on this surface. We are only at the beginning of our development phase on the tarmac special stages. So for the moment we are more comfortable on the mud. »

Ken Block can only rejoice at this important result for his confidence. “ Although I have participated in more rallies than I would have liked, I am absolutely delighted with our result in Spain and I am happy that we have reached the milestone of our first points. »
