Breen: Layoff for 2019 is “difficult to take”

Citroën Racing's policy of only entering two C3s in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2019 leaves two drivers behind: Mads Ostberg and Craig Breen, replaced by Esapekka Lappi and Sébastien Ogier. If the Norwegian very quickly confirmed his temporary withdrawal from the world stage, the Irishman had walled himself in silence.

However, Friday December 28, the 2000 S2012 world champion posted a video on his Facebook account. “The last few weeks have been trying, he admits. Not having a contract to be a pilot all year round (for 2019), this is something I found difficult to take. »

Disappointed with the non-renewal of the contract with the Chevron brand, Craig Breen is however working behind the scenes to put together a program for the future. “I feel better now. We are working very hard to get back into the WRC. There is a good probability that this will happen soon. I have to stay positive, I have a lot of people with me who are helping me to carry out this project”, explains the 11th in the 2018 ranking.
