Calendar and order of departures confirmed for 2017

In addition to a change in regulations already widely mentioned (power increased to 380 hp, maximum width of WRC increased to 1875 mm, authorized central differential, reduced mass, etc.), the 2017 season of the World Rally Championship will see the introduction of a new starting order system, after numerous criticisms, notably from the world champion Sébastien Ogier.

The competitors will start in the order of the championship on the first day of an event, before switching the system previously used, namely in the opposite direction of the classification of the rally during the last two days. This system should thus prevent the overall leader from the very penalizing sweep in the dirt heats.

As for the calendar, the absence of China is confirmed, after the cancellation of the 2016 edition due to weather conditions leading to damage to the roads before departure. The Tour de Corse has been brought forward to April, to constitute the first real asphalt round of the season.

Le WRC lancera un Trophée dédié pour les équipages engagés sur des WRC d’avant 2017. Concernant le JWRC, les DS 3 seront remplacées par des R2 engagées par M-Sport.
