Camilli confirmed on the VW Polo GTI R5 in Spain

As we told you in issue 2182 of AUTOhebdo, Éric Camilli will be well engaged in Rally of Spain (October 25-28) on the new Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 which will make its competition debut.

“Éric Camilli and Benjamin Veillas form an experienced crew and they did a good job testing the Polo GTI R5, explains Sven Smeets, VW sporting director. It is the logical next step to use them for their experience of WRC 2 in competitive debut. This puts us in an excellent position. »

The WRC 2 runner-up, who will be co-driven by Benjamin Veillas, actively participated in the development of the German car by covering a third of the 10km of testing with the Volkswagen Polo GTI R000.

The people's manufacturer will announce its second line-up for Catalonia at a later date, but Pontus Tidemand, Petter Solberg and Marcus Grönholm are among the contenders for the still vacant wheel.

The Volkswagen Motorsport premises will deliver the first models to customers from November. The brand already has 15 reservations from 8 teams competing in regional to international events.
