After three editions which had already been a great success, the small organizational team gathered around Dani Sordo and his father decided to raise the level even further. Despite the incessant rain which has fallen on Cantabria in recent days, there was no shortage of activity around the track installed not far from the town of Torrelavega, around a hundred kilometers from Bilbao. “ So far we haven't had any luck with the weather, sighs Dani Sordo as he gets off the tractor that he has just parked in the parking lot. I hope Sunday will be better. A lull is normally predicted. We've been preparing everything for over a week. I can't wait for this to begin. »

From Friday morning, the service park installed at the edge of the track began to fill up with cars gathered for the weekend and the equipment present was tempting. With its imposing structure, Thierry Neuville notably came with a 306 Maxi and a BMW M3. “ La Peugeot is in a Sanremo configuration, explained the Belgian. We're only missing a 7-speed gearbox, but we're close to finding a solution for that. As for the M3, it is completely new. We only received it a few days ago. " The pilot Hyundai was happy to have to use his cars on the circuit.

Installed right next to it, the Italian Lucas Pedersoli lined up with the Citroën C3 WRC which he recently raced with with Andrea Adamo as navigator. Several Spaniards who usually compete in the Spanish championship made the trip, such as Miguel Fuster or Ivan Ares. If Kris Meeke had to withdraw after being injured at home, the audience was mainly waiting to see the Fiat 131 Abarth of Paolo Diana, who is never shy of slipping.

While the first laps took place on a wet track, the public could already enjoy the spectacle. Dani Sordo particularly gave of himself by carrying out numerous baptisms behind the wheel of a 20 Hyundai i2017 which is still impressive.
