Chris Atkinson hopes to return to the category

In Finland, Chris Atkison took the wheel of the Citroën DS3 WRC of the Qatar World Rally Team where he replaced Nasser Al-Attiyah, selected for the London Olympic Games where he competed in the skeet event with success, winning the bronze medal. Despite going off the track and breaking suspension during the second stage of the rally, the Australian had the pace to finish in the Top 5, but it was in 39th place that he finished the Rally Finland.

« A single moment of inattention cost us a good result but I am happy to have shown my speed four years after my last participation in Finland, rejoices Atkinson. I could have gone faster if I had spent more time in a WRC. My priority is the Asia-Pacific title this season but I want to return to the WRC. It is the highest level of the discipline and I showed that I deserved to have my place there. I don't know when I will be able to drive in the WRC again but I hope that this moment will arrive very quickly and that, if possible, it will be with Citroën. »

Chris Atkinson will now prepare for Rally Hokkaido, the fifth round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally season, which he currently dominates with a 45-point lead over Alister McRae.
