Christian Loriaux works on the Fiesta S2000

“This is why our tests are scheduled from September 2009,” explains Christian Loriaux, technical director. M-Sport. The Belgian engineer is responsible for the design of the new car, just as he created the famous Focus RS WRC 03, Focus WRC 06 and their various evolutions.

“From the start, we must remember that the Fiesta S2000 could be entered in the national and regional championships, as well as in the IRC challenge, but that, from the start of the 2011 season, it will have to meet the additional constraints specific to the WRC rules. in terms of the lifespan of its mechanical elements. » We know in fact that the number of engines, gearboxes, transmission elements, steering and others is strictly limited in WRC.

“Our Fiesta S2000 will therefore automatically have to be particularly reliable,” continues Loriaux, who is never against a little commercial wink. The reasoning will also apply to the future Citroën S2000, which, even if the information is not yet official, should be available in mid-2010. Finally, let us point out that the press release published this morning comes from M-Sport, and not from Ford, but that the manufacturer will take charge of the approval of the vehicle.
