Citroën late with its tests

Citroën is late in the development of its new DS3 WRC which will be pitted against the Ford Fiesta WRC and the Mini Countryman WRC. In comparison, the Xsara WRC did not complete its first two seasons, only taking part in four events in 2001 and eight in 2002.

The DS3 WRC will have to compete in its entirety in its first season which will begin in February with the Rally from Sweden. This deadline worries Sven Smeets, the team manager of Citroën World Rally Team. “It can be difficult following the late regulations sent by the FIA, particularly regarding the engine. »

The new World Rally Cars will in fact be equipped with a new 1,6 liter turbo engine which will replace the 2 liter used until the end of the 2010 season. “We all simply don't have enough time to do so much. ?tests as we would like. Everyone is under more pressure because of this limited time. That's not how it worked with the C4, we had a lot more time for the car. »
