Citroën wants to resume its march forward

Beaten by Ford drivers in the previous rally from Sardinia, the Citroën team hopes to redeem itself in Greece this week by achieving a sixth victory this season. For this, the double chevron firm can rely on its usual duo of drivers, Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo. The first has already won twice on the rough slopes of the Acropolis and will be keen to repeat such a performance in order to add a 53rd success to his list of achievements.

Although he has experience of this type of terrain, he knows how essential tire management is to have a chance of reaching the top step of the podium. “ Sometimes you should not hesitate to relieve very brittle portions, to avoid puncturing or breaking something. », he says. “ Our C4 WRC and Pirelli tires are very resistant, but they are subjected to extreme conditions, especially when it is very hot. »

Heat will also be a parameter to take into account. After Sardinia and its hot weather, Greece will indeed be another test for the drivers but especially for the machines. A test all the more difficult as the Ford drivers, Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala, will have high morale before entering this seventh round. “ As we saw in Sardinia, nothing is won in advance and we must not relax. I expect a difficult race, especially since this rally is the favorite terrain of our opponents », Predicts the world champion.

His teammate, Dani Sordo, also hopes to score big points in the constructors' championship. Fifth last year, this time he hopes to be involved in victory until the end. But here again, we will have to be careful not to increase the number of punctures, which were fatal to the Spaniard in 2008. “ I like this rally, I feel good there and I think I'll be able to play the leading roles. We lacked success last year, but in terms of pure performance we were already in the game », concludes Sordo.
