Citroën will aim for “brilliance” in the WRC

The Citroën Racing crews were revealed before the presentation of the 2014 season program this afternoon. The manufacturer has nevertheless announced the arrival of Chris Patterson to co-drive Khalid Al Qassimi and the role of substitute that Marek Nawarecki, director of Customer Competition, will take when Yves Matton is retained for a round of the WTCC.

With Kris Meeke and Mads Ostberg committed for the whole year and Khalid Al Qassimi in a third DS3 WRC, Citroën Racing does not seem best equipped to face Volkswagen Motorsport and Sébastien Ogier who had a sparkling season this year. However, the qualities of the Briton and the Norwegian could allow the Reds to surprise their opponents. The Northern Irishman will be one to watch in particular since he only has eight starts at the highest level.

“Thanks to the support of our partners, foremost among whom are Total and Abu Dhabi Racing, we are pleased to continue Citroën Racing’s commitment to the WRC”, commented director Yves Matton. ?The team has know-how and experience which will help our crews to assert themselves among the benchmarks of the Championship. Both Kris and Mads will have to learn, in different areas. Our objective will be to bring them to a level allowing them to achieve brilliant feats and win rallies. »
