In 2022, Takamoto Katsuta will continue its development program within the Toyota Gazoo Racing. After a partial commitment in 2020 and a first full year this season, Nippon will be entitled to the 4th Yaris hybrid entered by the TGR in the World Rally Championship. As a reminder, the first two were entrusted to Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä while Sébastien Ogier and Esapekka Lappi will share 3rd.
« It was a very good season for us, remembers the Toyota driver. I took it step by step and the results started to be better. We even managed to finish on the podium in Kenya (...) I can't wait for next season with the new generation of car. It will be interesting and a big challenge. A lot will change and I can't wait to experience the feeling in the car and see what we can achieve. »
The 2022 season should also be that of confirmation for Takamoto Katsuta. After having three different co-drivers in 2021 (Daniel Barritt, Keaton Williams and Aaron Johnston), the Nippon has decided to continue the adventure, full-time this time, with the latter city thus ending its five-year relationship with the former.
« I would like to thank Dan for his immense support since 2016, continues Katsuta. Without this, I would never have obtained these good results. He offered me so much advice and we had a lot of fun together. We will continue to work closely outside the car. I also look forward to continuing my work with Aaron. We already have a great relationship and I'm sure we can strengthen it even further by doing more rallies together."
