Craig Breen does not give up: “The WRC remains the center of the world”

Ousted from Citroën Racing in the 2018-19 off-season, Craig Breen returned to national competitions this season. The 2015 European rally vice-champion competes in the Irish and Italian rally championships, not without success.

The Irishman won the first three rounds of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship (Itrc) aboard a Ford Fiesta R5, and above all pinned the famous Rally of Sanremo (Italy) to his prize list in mid-April, this time in a Skoda Fabia R5. “I haven't been there for six years, I haven't been able to do any testing to prepare myself and I'm facing drivers who compete in this event every year with beautiful cars and adequate budgets., he explains to the official website of the WRC.

The 29-year-old driver, associated with Kris Meeke's former co-driver, Paul Nagle, beat Simone Campedelli (Ford) to the post in the final special. His 11” delay turned into an advantage of 4”3! “I like to study the history of rallying and winning an event like Sanremo, with its rich history and WRC heritage, was fantastic, but beating these guys on their home turf and in these conditions was just as important to me. »

Craig Breen, however, is not the type to be content with his minor programs. « The WRC remains the center of the world for Paul and me. This is what we are aiming for. We want to return to the highest level and we are doing absolutely everything in our power to achieve this. We are not yet finished with our WRC adventure”, he promises.

What if Craig Breen returned to Citroën? An image published briefly on his Instagram account reported a few days after Sanremo ofa private test session with… a Citroën C3 R5.
