The second of four test days scheduled ahead of the 90e edition of Monte-Carlo was reserved for Craig Breen. The day before, Adrien fourmaux had driven on a very snowy road, which will probably not be very useful to him given the conditions announced for the initial round.
For the Irishman, the chosen base included more completely dry portions than snow-covered ones. During his first runs, the Briton was very determined, pushing his Puma to the maximum. Perhaps he went a little too close to the limits though? The morning wasn't even over when, in a series of rapid turns, its front left rim hit the parapet which instantly sent the Rally1 into the rock wall on the other side of the road.
Ricocheting against the hill, the Puma then spun and plunged backwards into the ravine. It finally finished its race on the roof in the trees, with Craig Breen and his co-driver Paul Nagle escaping unscathed. “ It's not the best experience, he admits on his Instagram account. Paul and I are doing well and I'm happy about that. We were pretty unlucky (...) I'm disgusted for the team and everyone who worked over the holidays to prepare the car for Monte-Carlo. They are back on so we can continue working with them for the rest of the week »
Après avoir récupéré l’auto, l’équipe M-Sport s’est immédiatement mise au travail pour la remonter afin que Fergus Greensmith puisse rouler avant dimanche où Sébastien Loeb should in turn find the Ford.
