Craig Breen tests the limits of the Peugeot 208 R5

Peugeot Sport having promoted Craig Breen to the position of official driver with a commitment to the Championship ERC over eight events, the Lion also exploited the potential of the SWRC champion in order to carry out the tests of the new 208 R5 after the latter participated in the development of the R2 version. The Irishman therefore went to Riboux this week for a four-day test session to optimize the car so that it is ready for marketing scheduled in two months.

“I am very happy to test the 208 Type R5”, comments the Peugeot driver who is carrying out his last day of testing today. “The handling is really good with two strong points in my opinion: the brakes and the gearbox. We sometimes drove in difficult conditions and the brakes were formidable, allowing us to drive with complete confidence. As for the gearbox, it is very easy to use and the gear change is perfect! I appreciated the engine, efficient thanks to incredible torque. We are progressing with each run, it?s very exciting! » Technical manager Alexis Avril underlines the importance of the work accomplished before the start of the marketing of this new model. “If the first session in December was a warm-up, this time we got into development work thanks to numerous runs which gave us directions. We are accumulating kilometers despite variable weather conditions and we are starting to sort out technical solutions.”
