Perfect debut for Tänak at Arctic Rally, Ogier far behind

Preparation pays off. Entered at Otepää Talveralli two weeks ago where he left with victory, the Estonian was at ease on this first day of competition.

Thanks to its two scratches, Ott Tänak enjoys a good lead overall after this first day of the Arctic Rally. Before tackling Saturday's six special stages, the Estonian is 16" ahead of Craig Breen and 2" ahead of Kalle Rovanperä. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Elfyn Evans (Toyota) complete the podium.

Leader of the championship, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) opened the two stages. A position which caused him to lose a lot of time in the lead car. In difficulty, the seven-time world champion finished the day in 9th position and 49” from Ott Tänak.

The general classification

Saturday begins at 8:08 a.m. with SS3, still to be followed in live text on AUTOhebdo.
