The year 2000 marked the full-time return of Peugeot Sport in the World Rally Championship, a little less than fifteen years after the Lion's last coronation in 1986 with the Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 and Juha Kankkunen.
After a partial 1999 campaign devoted to the development of the new 206 weapon, Peugeot presented itself in 2000 with its leader Marcus Grönholm, assisted by the French pair François Delecour – Gilles Panizzi.
Facing opposition led by Richard Burns and his Subaru, Carlos Sainz and Colin McRae (Ford) and the defending champion Tommi Mäkinen (Mitsubishi), the Peugeot – Grönholm tandem will nevertheless find the resources to win. A look back at this season in video.
