The French driver from M-Sport is in sixth place in the final event of the 2016 WRC after the first stage. The Niçois clearly did not expect to display such a pace on this always particular terrain.

Eric Camilli between satisfaction and surprise in Australia

To complete his first full season at the highest level of the World Championship, Eric Camilli could count with the Rally from Australia, on one of the most feared gravel events due to the nature of the terrain.

“It was a very good day for us, Camilli comments. We didn't expect to be competitive straight away, which is always very nice to notice. We showed very good speed in certain places and achieved the third fastest time on the third stage of the morning. »

“We had a lot of fun in the special stages, continues Camilli. We had confidence with the car and it was really positive for us, especially after the last rallies. We will try to continue like this for the rest of the event and we hope to obtain a good result at the finish. »

The second stage of the Rally Australia will begin this evening at 22:28 p.m., with the Nambucca 50 km. Photos from Rally Australia can be viewed in our dedicated gallery.
