What if Pirelli stayed in the WRC?

The call for tenders for the exclusive supply of tires for the WRC for the three-year period from 2025 to 2027 closed a few weeks ago. If it is difficult to take stock of the situation, various rumors do not prohibit the continuation of Pirelli after 2024, due to the lack of a sufficiently solid candidacy.

When the closing date fell on September 15, no list of candidate manufacturers was revealed. However, everyone started making bets between Michelin, Hankook (South Korean) and MRF (Indian). However, it quickly became clear that certain announcements made by the Indian manufacturer were impossible to fulfill.

If MRF really responded (this remains to be proven), his name ended up disappearing from the list, leaving room for a simple duel. In the chronology of this call for tenders, the next important date was October 19 when the identity of the chosen manufacturer should have been revealed. But now, October 20 has already passed without anything happening and it now seems that the answer will come before the World Council on December 6.

This gives time for all the conjectures to proliferate. Precisely, during the Rally from Central Europe, a rumor spread that the two proposed files did not correspond to the criteria. If this turns out to be true, what solution will WRC for 2025? We must hope that Pirelli will agree to continue its action so that the WRC does not find itself... on the rim.
