Ford confirms Dani Sordo for Argentina

It is therefore confirmed, Dani Sordo will replace Jari-Matti Latvala at Rally from Argentina which will be played next week. The Finn will have to give up his place to the Spaniard after breaking his left collarbone during a ski fall. Ford WRT, however, assures that the winner of the Swedish Rally will be able to get back behind the wheel at the Acropolis Rally (May 25-27). In the meantime, the decision to take the Prodrive driver may come as a surprise given that Mads Ostberg and Evgeny Novikov have performed well since the start of the year, the Norwegian even having won his first victory in WRC in Portugal. But it was the field experience that took precedence.

“We are disappointed that Jari-Matti will miss a rally, underlines boss Malcom Wilson. But that he recovers fully as soon as possible is the most important thing for him and the team. We are lucky to have a driver of Dani Sordo’s caliber join us. His experience of Rally Argentina was a key factor in our decision, as he took part five times, and even finished second in 2009. The agreement is for a single event, and I would like to thank the leaders of Dani's current team, and who were kind enough to help us in such circumstances.

With Prodrive absent in Argentina, Dani Sordo is free to take the wheel of the Fiesta RS WRC. But is the manufacturer with the blue oval already thinking about the next season? The manager of Jari-Matti Latvala has indeed spread rumors about a possible departure of the Finn for Volkswagen. With an uncertain future for Mini, Sébastien's former teammate Loeb could well bounce back within Malcolm Wilson's team. Before the start of Rally Argentina, Dani Sordo is expected to test the Fiesta RS WRC to get used to driving the car.
